Smashing Pumpkins Go Acoustic

According to the band's management, the next Smashing Pumpkins album, due out next year will be acoustic. They may preview some new songs when they play a series of dates opening for the Rolling Stones this fall, but the Pumpkins won't be playing the kickoff date in their native city of Chicago.

Meanwhile, frontman Billy Corgan is the executive producer of the upcoming Hole album, and he co-produced the new album by ex-Cars leader Ric Ocasek, which will be out next month. Pumpkins guitarist James Iha is now working on his first solo album.
