Reznor Takes New Direction in Music

Trent Reznor is currently working on the next Nine Inch Nails album with producer Rick Rubin. Reznor says in an interview in the new issue of "CMJ New Music Monthly" that it may sound noticably differentfrom previous albums. Also, he says that he began taking stock of himself and his music after NIN's last tour, when NIN had become "a parody of itself."

Reznor says that he realized he was bored with industrial music, and began getting into drums and bass, jungle, hip-hop and especially, Erykah Badu. At one time he asked U2 frontman Bono for advice on what musical direction turn to, and got songwriting tips from David Bowie, with whom NIN toured two years ago.
