Pumpkins Change to "Electric Folk" On New Album

The Smashing Pumpkins' next album, originally said to be acoustic as we reported earlier this month, will more closely resemble "electric folk."

The Pumpkins are now describing the upcoming album, to be released next year, as "styled down," and frontman Billy Corgan comparing the bandıs less-thunderous new sound to the sound of Bob Dylan back in the mid-60s, only "darker."

Corgan is already working on writing songs with Courtney Love for the next Hole album. On top of this, the Pumpkins will fly to Fort Worth, Texas, on November 1 to open up for the Rolling Stones.
