[10-30-97 Thurs] Metallica's "Re-load" will be out November 18, and you will be able to hear the first single, "The Memory Remains," very soon. How will it compare to Metallica's last album, "Load?" Despite the opinions of many people that the new album will be a bunch of crap left over from "Load," reports say "Re-Load" may even be better.
Bob Rock, who co-produced Re-Load (and Load) with singer James Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich, said, "The strongest ones definitely weren't put out first. There were some pretty strong songs on Load. It was really what the band wanted to put out first; it was a matter of choice. We were going to do the whole thing [as a two CD set], but we discovered it was just too much work for the band to cut, overdub and finish properly."
James Hetfield of MetallicaRe-Load, though, is said that to "sound a lot like the last one." The new album will feature 13 tracks that were recorded during the Load sessions. They are reported to have a similar feel to Load's "brooding darkness."
