Radiohead Recording On the Road

[11-12-97 Wed] Radiohead are certainly keeping themselves busy during their free minutes on the road on their current tour. The producer of their previous album, "OK Computer," Nigel Goodrich, has been flown out to all of the band's European dates so they can record new music on the road. Recording equipment is being kept in one of their buses and they are demoing and taping songs at soundchecks.

&The current state of the new material is unclear. Some sources say a new Radiohead album will be out next summer, and others say a new album may be out as soon as early 1998. A spokeswoman for Radiohead confirmed that the band is currently recording on the road. "They're still putting stuff down," she said. "In the soundchecks they tend to warm up with completely new stuff, as they've always done. But this time Nigel Goodrich is on the road with them working on stuff. Because they're going to be on tour for a year they're taking the recording gear with them."

Some tentative titles for tracks include "Man-O-War," "Motion Picture Soundtrack," "I Promise," "True Love Waits," and "Nude/Neut." Radiohead performed 'Motion Picture Soundtrack' at their London Astoria fan club show in September. The band's next single, "No Surprises" from their "OK Computer" album will be released in January.
