Bledsoe, Others Injure Woman At Everlclear Concert

[11-18-97 Tues] Drew Bledsoe and two of his New England Patriots teammates jumped from a nightclub stage where Everlear was apparently playing, consequently injuring a female patron. She was struck by offensive lineman Max Lane as they jumped. The woman was hospitalized after the incident at the Paradise Rock Club in Boston last Thursday night. Bledsoe, Lane and backup quarterback Scott Zolak were invited on stage by Everclear, and the players jumped into the crowd. Lane had no comment, WBZ-TV reports. The woman was in stable condition at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Boston. She was nursing neck, shoulder and arm injuries.

Bledsoe, the AFC's second-ranked quarterback, Lane and Zolak were at practice on Friday, and the incident was being looked into. None of the players were injured. "We are investigating this matter to determine any involvement by our players," the team said in a statement. "All of our players are well aware of the fact that the team expects them to conduct themselves professionally and responsibly both on and off the field."

"Drew went to a concert and, following the custom of his generation, he jumped into the crowd," said Bledsoe's agent, Leigh Steinberg. "I'd prefer he not jump off stages. I don't think it's something you'll see again soon.

Bledsoe later made an apology for the incident over the radio. Both Everlcear and player Lane deny any responsibility in the incident.
