[11-25-97 Tues] Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland made his solo debut Monday night at a benefit for a teen shelter at the Roxy in Los Angeles, and according to all reports of the performance, it was a success. Present with a five-piece band, Weiland appeared with producer Daniel Lanois. Lanois has worked with such hits as U2 and Peter Gabriel, and showed up with Weiland at the performance. At first the producer was only working with Weiland on a few remixes, but reports now say he is heavily involved with the project.
The show, The 7th Annual Gimme Shelter Benefit, also included many others, with Weiland wrapping it up.
Weiland's debut solo album, which comes out in mid-March, has been finished. The title of the album is "12 Bar Blues," and that may be the band's title, also, instead of "Scott Weiland." Weiland's Stone Temple Pilots bandmates, who have put together the band Talk Show, are now considering another STP album for next year.
