[12-08-97 Mon] Oasis fans were not too happy with the band on Sunday. On December 4 and 5, vocalist Liam Gallagher left the stae in Dublin because of a sore throat - that was okay - but the whole band walked off the stage in Glascow, Scotland on Sunday, December 7.
The band was supposedly upset when a fan threw a plastic bottle which hit bassist Paul Arthurs. Arthurs then complained to Gallagher, who told the audience that such behavior was unacceptable, and they wouldn't take it. Gallagher said goodnight, and he and his bandmates walked off the stage, barely halfway through their 110 minute show. At first no one really knew what was going on, until ten minutes later when an announcement was made that the band had left and the crowd should leave, too. As a result, fans booed while they left, but almost a third of the fans refused to leave, and started a loud protest. Oasis was scheduled to perform at the same place on Monday night. The same thing happened in Vancouver, Canada during an earlier tour when a fan threw a shoe at the stage.
In other Oasis news, MTV will broadcast a special, "Oasis: All Around the World Live" on December 14 at 11 PM. Also, the band will start their US tour on January 8, featuring Cornershop as the opening act. Noel Gallagher wants to make a fort out of his Supernova Heights home, it looks like. He is planning to put up a six-foot gate at the entrance of his home to get more privacy from fans. Also Noel Gallagher admits to 'borrowing' a riff from David Bowie's classic tune, "All the Young Dudes". Bowie's spokesman said that he was enjoying a Caribbean vacation before performing at KROQ's Almost Acoustic Christmas show. The spokesman said, "We're not aware of it. It's not the first time it's been brought to our attention. David will have to think about it after his holiday." Think about copyright infringment, maybe?...
