[12-08-97 Mon] With such performers as Green Day, Jane's Addiction, and many more, what would you expect when they all come together? This weekend's two-day KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas shows in Los Angeles sound pretty eventful...
Take this for example: No Doubt drummer Adrian Young reportedly did a little striptease during the band's performance of "Oi! To The World." Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland, who's new solo single is now getting airplay, was wearing heavy eye make up and a marabou feather-trimmed crop top, was booed for playing some new material in the middle of a mostly radio-hit line-up.
Green Day put up their Christmas tree - well actually they threw it into the audience. They also entertained the crowd by spray painting the backdrop on the stage, and some constant wearing. Frontman Billie Joe Armstrong also pulled down his pants and then supposedly put down Jane's Addiction, saying that frontman Perry Farrell made a rambling, unfocused performance. Jane's guitarist Dave Navarro, who previously said that Fiona Apple's appearance was the basic reason why the band would be playing the show, further showed his affection to Apple. Backstage, Navarro left a message in Apple's dressing room for her, scrawled in his own blood, which read, "Have fun." Navarro also supposedly appeared with poinsettias.
Hey - it wasn't all fun and games. Beck generously filled in at the show for last minute dropouts Jamiroquai and The Verve. What a show.
