[12-09-97 Tues] Marilyn Manson and bandmate Twiggy Ramirez joined the Smashing Pumpkins onstage for two songs in Miami Friday night. The Pumpkins, who were opening for the Rolling Stones, performed a brand new song called "Eva Adore". Reports say that a critic for the Tampa Tribune said the band was "in fine form" and said the new song "should squash worries that lead Pumpkin Billy Corgan is moving entirely into electronic and atmospheric sounds." The show was the final appearance with 'touring drummer' Matt Walker.... Phish's Mike Gordon has told the press that although he's working in the movie biz, he won't actually appear on the big screen. The band's bassist says that he's writing and directing a movie about a guitar student who turns out to start taking lessons from the 'eccentric' Col. Bruce Hampton. The movie should be out in another year.... Sponge is almost ready to begin recording in a New York studio for their third album. They have chosen 17 songs from 40 demos recorded over the past few months, including the (tentatively titled) songs "Planet Girls," "Assume The Position," and "Lackluster." The new album will be produced by Kevin Shirley, who has also worked with Silverchair and Aerosmith, and is expected to be out in spring of 1998.... Cracker's David Lowery appears in an indie movie, 'River Red', which was one of 18 movies accepted for the exhibition at the upcoming Sundance Film Festival. The film was chosen out of a possible 800 entries, and features a new Cracker song, "Lullabye," the old Cracker tune, "Take Me Down To the Infirmary," and a score by Cracker guitarist Johnny Hickman.
