[12-23-97 Tues] Shaun Ryder, the leader of Black Grape, has fired the rest of the band after a shouting arguement before a concert on December 7 in England, according to ATN and NME. The fight started over the abrupt cancellation of the show, which was cancelled because of Ryder's "nervous exhaustion," according to the band's UK spokesperson. "Black Grape have cancelled all live commitments for the near future."
But the band hasn't really broken up. The band's U.K. representatives were "desperately trying to get Ryder and the rest of the band together over the weekend to try and sort out their differences," according to ATN and NME. The UK representatives said that the band would make the whole incident up to their fans in thr new year. NME quotes Ryder as saying, "I'm sick and tired after two years of damn hard, solid work, and I've really had enough for this year -- of the work and the bitching. We all need to break over Christmas."
